HOLY MOLAR
Cavity Search
(Three One G)

Antioch Arrow, Final Conflict, Struggle, Swing Kids, The Locust, Cattle Decapitation; what do all those bands have in common? That’s right, members of all those bands have converged in Holy Molar to create some of the craziest spazz core, for lack of a batter term, imaginable.  This is extreme music without the heaviness included. If anything Holy Molar should be recognized for keeping a thin sound that’s high on the obnoxious factor.  The band does all it can to cram a lot of music into a  very small space. The five tracks included in Cavity Search usually experience several episodes of identity crisis on a song by song basis and that may just be the band’s only merit and greatest fault.

The title track is magical for a few seconds before dropping some skeletical grind that’s light on the guitars and heavy on this stomping keyboard sound. From then on things get even crazier, with songs radically changing tempos and melodies in every possible manner at times approximating trance vibes and at others sounding like the bastard child of The Locust and Mr. Bungle. Perhaps more entertaining are the song titles; “You’ve Had More Kids Pulled Out of That Thing Than a Burning Orphanage”, “Spread Her Land O’ Lakes” and “The Night Pocohotass”, and the dubious album cover; is that an asshole or an ear? I see a Q-tip so I’ll bet for the latter.
